{Personal} Fremantle Shoot Swap

Description

A couple weekends back I headed of to the quirky seaside city of Fremantle, one of my favourite places in Perth, Western Australia.  Fremantle is vibrant, cultural and vibrant and is definitely a must to visit, whether you live in Western Australia or you are a visitor here.  On this occasion I was not here for a historical/sightseeing trip, I was here to meet fellow photographer, Lindi Beckett, for lunch and a shoot swap.

I find shoot swaps extremely helpful, as I get to experience what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera.  I get to experience what it feels like for my clients who behind my lens, it reminds me to not get to engrossed with photographing and interact and engage with my couples.

It is also really great, because it is one of the few times that I get to be in photographs, as you can imagine I am always behind the camera and sadly have very few photographs of myself.

Lindi and I had a lovely lunch before we headed out to the streets of Fremantle to photograph each other.  The day was filled with a lot of laughter and anyone passing us by would not have even begun to imagine that we had only met a few hours before that for the first time.  Here are some of my photos of Lindi from our day.

  2. [...] A couple of weeks ago I went on a shoot swap with the talented Liesl Cheney. I had so much fun on this shoot and even though we had just met that morning, it felt like we have known each other for years. Both Liesl and me are originally from South Africa but Liesl have been living in the UK for the last couple of years and in the beginning of this year she and her husband moved to Perth. We met each other through a Photography form called Kiki and she suggested we meet up and do a shoot swap. A shoot swap is a really good thing to do as a photographer, since you tend to forget how uncomfortable your clients can be when being photographed. This is a great reminder. I also tend to have heaps of photos of hubby but almost none of myself so was really happy to get some done. Anyhow enough nonsense, here is the shoot. (See the pics of me here) [...]
