Becca and Phil were married on a beautiful winters day at Munja Gardens in Perth. Whilst they have had a lot to contend with this year, on their wedding day everything fell into place and was right with the world. The day was filled with so much love, laughter and happiness and Becca truly made a gorgeous bride.

I would like to thank my second shooter Lindi Beckett for accompanying and assisting me on the day. Becca, I am pleased that I got to be part of your special day. You are a pillar of strength and have a warm, big and beautiful heart.

One aspect I love to incorporate into my photos is to be able to convey a story. This first year of a little baby’s life is one of the most precious stories to be captured. So many things happen in such a short time, from being a bump, to those nerve wracking first weeks of being new parents, the sitting up, crawling and those first few tentative steps. To be able to capture those moments for parents is something I love to do.

Congratulations Nadia and Brad on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. He is such a treasure and I can see how much love, joy and happiness he brings to your lives.

Little Charly and her mom contacted me a few weeks ago, being friends with my sister-in-law’s best friend in the UK.  I love photographing babies and Charly was just a little treasure and already so lady like.  I couldn’t help but smile when every time she saw the camera and had a little baby giggle.  She was so full of personality and it just seems to shine through every photograph.

I just want to say a special thanks to Jojo Baby Bits for making the beautiful beanie on such short notice! Baby Charly looked stunning in it!

Nadia and Brad are expecting a little baby boy in six weeks and both are extremely excited about the new addition to their family. I know they are going to make very good parents! I certainly cannot wait to meet the little guy and introduce him to all of my readers!

I find shoot swaps extremely helpful, as I get to experience what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera.  I get to experience what it feels like for my clients who behind my lens, it reminds me to not get to engrossed with photographing and interact and engage with my couples.

It is also really great, because it is one of the few times that I get to be in photographs, as you can imagine I am always behind the camera and sadly have very few photographs of myself.

Lindi and I had a lovely lunch before we headed out to the streets of Fremantle to photograph each other.  The day was filled with a lot of laughter and anyone passing us by would not have even begun to imagine that we had only met a few hours before that for the first time.  Here are some of my photos of Lindi from our day.

I remember waking up at around 03:00 in the morning to travel to Heathrow and I was in a flat spin in the car, because a water pipe burst on the main road so we had to take a detour and I was nervous that I was going to miss my flight. I got to the airport in good time and it turned out I arrived 50 minutes early. I was met in Dublin by good friend and talented photographer Mary Brown who I was second shooting with that weekend. It was a very cold morning in Dublin. There was a lot of chatter in the car between Mary and I, as we had not seen each other since I second shot with her at Negar and Gareth’s wedding earlier in the year.

Arriving at the flat, I was exhausted and wanted to curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee and finish my book. Later during the day we went for dinner and met up with another friend and wedding photographer, Christina Brosnan, who I had met at a workshop the year before. We had a lovely dinner before we checked our gear, got prepared and retired to bed for the next day’s wedding.

Driving in the Irish countryside is enough to get anyone excited, it is so scenic, beautiful and green and the light is just stunning. We arrived at the Village of Lyons where we to meet Lydia and Paul. I was blown away by the venue, it was cosy, quaint and so intimate. At this point I just couldn’t wait to start photographing the day. Lydia and her family were in a cottage which is just next to the main building. The excitement was certainly building! The kids also seemed to be having a blast and really loved the cameras and Lydia looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress.

The wedding ceremony itself was held in a conservatory and you could smell the fig plants which were growing on the walls. After the ceremony we got to explore the grounds a bit more with the couple and the wedding party. We were lucky enough to get to see more of the grounds than usual as Paul is the revered chef at the venue. Everything was awesome and the food was an absolute treat, I absolutely loved the sparkler in the dessert. The entire day was amazing and I want to say thank you to Mary for allowing me to second shoot with her and be part of Lydia and Pauls wedding.

Before going down to the foreshore to celebrate, I got to photograph the adorable Ethan.  Ethan is six months old and has the sweetest little smile.  He is a very relaxed and happy little boy who has such a gentle temperament and he was so easy to photograph.  Here are some of the pics from the photo shoot.

Unfortunately, I did not get any photographs on my camera of the fireworks in Perth as my tripods are still in shipping, perhaps next time round.

But I seem to be digressing, at the beginning of this year, I set myself a small personal project to photograph food throughout this year.  I have always admired how food photographers make everything look so appealing and I also know it is really tricky and difficult.  Taking up this project, I knew that it was going to force me to step outside of my comfort zone.

I will not be sharing all the recipes and photos on my blog, only the ones I really love and I am proud of (and of course the recipe has to be scrumptious too) – I do have an album on my facebook page where you can see all of my photos from this year.

This mini cheesecake recipe, was actually quite easy and extremely tasty.  It is a baked vanilla cheesecake with freshly made lemon curd on top…scrumptious! You can view the recipe at the joyofbaking.
